Well, it's a little cathartic to be able to vent, to scrutinize, to assess, to get it all out when something's bothering me. If you want to know exactly what I'm talking about... it's HERE. PART I and PART II were needed as this was, well, you'll see if you're curious enough to go there and read. The discussion was about Beta men vs Alpha men and the necessary balance of power in a relationship. I'm past that now, moving on, and wondering what the hell I'm going to do about my life as it is at the moment... not much of a life at all. Aren't I always struggling with this? Don't answer.
Exhaustion overcomes on the other side of stress. I'm pretty much there at the moment and fighting like hell to defeat its encroachment. What I'm left with is a familiar struggle to find my strength and focus again. It's okay. It is what it is.
I have to face each day like I don't remember the one before. I can't allow myself to have any regrets, or allow the sense that I lost yet another 24 hours of my life. There aren't any do-overs. What I do is wake and think to myself.. "Today is the day." It's a mantra of sorts, and one that has yet to actually work.
I'm spent. Working on those two hefty entries has left me with virtually nothing. So, if you're curious... click on the link above to read the most of today's crapola.

The Status Quo.
It's been a week, and this entry is going to be brief and probably more than a little boring. My goals, as I've spoken about often, are to purge thoughts, etc. in my blogs. As of today my thoughts are fairly off, meaning I'm having trouble really understanding what it is I need to talk about. This dullness becomes the color of all of my life these days as the prednisone withdrawal wreaks absolute havoc on my body; This is the worst thing I've gone through to-date.
While I know that withdrawal will bring miserable consequences, ones that often can't be avoided, the possibility that there is something else going on is [possibly] evident in what I'm experiencing. Could it be that the withdrawal symptoms are simply symptoms of some other unknown problem yet to be discovered? My liver Dr. seems to think so. But damn. I can't deal with this much longer. Someone needs to get on finding out what the hell is kicking my ass SO badly that I have no quality of life anymore.
As I type this entry I have to lean my forearms on the laptop, putting my arms at my sides often as well because I simply cannot hold them there for long. This weakness is hardly tolerable on any level.
I'm simply too weak to keep typing... just wanted to check-in...
This is really getting ridiculous. And as for any support from T... nope. I have to accept that I'm in this alone. So be it....

The Similarities of Day to Day Life.
Or shall we call it "A life of perpetual sameness"? Either way, I'm going to make damn sure I change this. I have to.
I've posted enough here for you guys to know where I am at the moment. Dealing with communication and respect issues from T, issues that make themselves known every day and every night without fail. You also know by now that my tolerance for this is extremely thin, verging on non-existent. Notwithstanding innocent goof and human blunders, somewhere in the chaos one has to actually SEE the damage being done. "I" see the damage because I'm a recipient of most of it, but T sits quietly on the river "Denial" and refuses to move. Ok. Whatever.
He doesn't like my bluntness and doesn't want me to say aloud the truth that threatens not only to completely destroy this relationship, but the truth that's destroying my peace of mind, health, and happiness. He's in blissful ignorance, so I don't have any choice other than to say exactly what's on my mind.
When I'm trying to open a discussion, when I need to point out behaviors in someone that TRULY need addressing, I use non-combative phrases. I speak of how I feel, what the harmful behavior is, but I don't point fingers, name-call, label, etc., because that approach causes damage as well. I know how to communicate, as long as people allow me to communicate.
Repeatedly disrespecting me is a huge deal and would be for pretty much anyone. Not allowing anyone to disrespect me was a lesson only recently learned, so I'm still a little awkward with it and finding my balance and strength when approaching the subject. I'm getting there. Now, in the process I've become fairly blunt when I've taken all I can, and all PC is out the window. I speak my mind now while doing my best to preserve the other person's (in this case T) self-esteem. I've no interest in becoming what I most despise so won't allow myself to go there.
T believes that when I point out what he does that hurts, offends, and disrespects me.. that it's a form of disrespect and that I shouldn't say anything at all. But I assure you, that approach NEVER works and is, in fact, quite harmful to relationships and the individuals. If I shove down my feelings, ignore the disrespect, and take the punches in silence... I will eventually resent that person, and that person right now is T. No matter how I try to explain this--he doesn't get it and shows no indication of trying to understand or stop the disrespectful behavior.
Again, as I've said many times before, I'm not trying to make T out as a bad guy or to demonize him. He's NOT a bad guy--he's just blind to the things he does and doesn't do that greatly and adversely affect me in so many ways. I hang in there for the obvious reasons, and I do so because I hold hope very close, hope that he'll see what he's doing so it can be stopped.
I may be a bit foolish for relying on hope this way given my past experiences and hope-filled failures. But there's no reason NOT to hope. In fact, hope is the great buffer of all things, isn't it? Life tends to slip apart when hope is lost.
Damage control: There's been a lot of this with most being unsuccessful. And I'm no stranger to damage control given past relationships that left me holding the weight of fixing everything. One person CANNOT fix a relationship, nor can one person break it. If a relationship is going bad, guaranteed there are TWO people at fault, even if it's the behavior of one and the acceptance of that behavior by the other. It takes two people to break a relationship and two to repair it; an absolute truth.
Sometimes there are victims, yes, but 'most' victims are willing. Meaning, when you have a way out of a bad situation and don't get on board with preparing things, and if you stay and suffer the damaging consequences.. then you've willingly participated in that damage.
As for me, I was a willing victim. I played the martyr in love more times than I like to admit. My role in a past relationship which did a LOT of damage to my self-esteem, body, etc. I take full responsibility for. I remained in a bad situation, and though I believed that he and I could fix things I refused to see and acknowledge (for far too long) that the weight of that burden was planted fully on me. I should've left at the first sign of serious problems.
I should have bailed when the relationship began changing the way I saw myself, how I thought of myself, when it began to depress me and fill my entire world with anxiety. I should have been my own best friend and stood up for ME. Instead, I did everything I possibly could to change into the distorted version he wished me to become. It doesn't take a genius to understand that my acceptance of abuses, be they emotional or physical, would nearly destroy me as a person; I get it NOW, but I didn't get it THEN, not until it was too late and the damage was done.
I had to forgive myself more than the other person, because it was ME who let myself down. I didn't have my own back, and I allowed everything till nearly the end. It wasn't until I had a TIA and ended up in the hospital (very shortly after the last blow up) did I realize to what degree I'd been beaten up inside and how it had shattered me.
In the hospital the doctors asked about my level of stress, had I been dealing with major life changes such as a death in the family, financial hardship, and/or a breakup. That was the first time the lightbulb went on and I began to introspect as I lay in that hospital bed with nothing but the hum of the heater to interfere with what came to me. The realization was harsh, brazen, and shattering in its truth. I had to get out of the relationship; I had to let go; and I had to do it to save my life.
This wasn't a comfortable awareness when it came blazing out of the deep recesses in which unpleasant things go to smolder. But there was nothing I could do, really, but allow it into the light and face what it was, what I'd always known but refused to acknowledge.
So the burning question for most people at this point, after hearing/reading about my experience, the question everyone I knew at the time had is: Why the hell did I stay so long? I stayed because I was in love with him. Isn't that why any of us stay in bad or toxic relationships, because of our feelings and our sometimes misguided hopes that he/she will change?
I wouldn't find out until much later, until it was far too late and the damage was taking over my life and destroying happiness, that the person I fell in love with didn't really exist. If you've read my blogs for a while you've heard me say this, and that's because the realization that I fell in love with a lie is profound and one I struggle with today for obvious reasons: You can't say goodbye to someone who doesn't exist.
The mask slipped and I discovered the truth beneath.
To this day everything about me struggles to reconcile who I thought I loved with who I was actually dealing with.
I believe that this problem of irreconcilable truths, for me, is fanning the flames of what's happening in the current relationship. While I knew this was a possibility there wasn't any reasonable way to prepare for the experience itself. On one hand being protective is necessary, but on the other hand.. always being poised in defense isn't a good idea either.
This emotional struggle could end with closure; something I will never have. I can't say goodbye to someone who never existed, now can I?
Yeah... and therein lies the biggest problem of all. This fight, this struggle permeates day to day life. T's disrespect, whether purposeful or accidental permeates day to day life. Health problems worsen and take over day to day life. There seems to be no end to this....

Smells Like BS.
If you've read my other blogs you can probably see me struggling to maintain emotional homeostasis. I've only just decided to admit, again, that I'm depressed. I'm not talking about the kind of depression that makes it so you can't function AT ALL, but the kind that knocks you on your ass as you wake up every day and try again and keep going, despite the obstacles. I wake up and have one absolute goal, and that's to Persefuckingvere! I mean, what else is there at this point?
I don't need people telling me everything's fine, I'll be okay, they 'understand' (when they absolutely don't). I don't need canned platitudes and niceties, nor do I need anyone's silence either. In fact, the silence is probably the greatest unkindness of all. Wouldn't you agree? I mean, silence is preferable than the standard BS people love to dish out, but it's harmful in its own way, believe me.
Social networking is fraught with a filtered indifference and disconnection of people, of humanity. Why say a kind or supportive or compassionate word when you can just find the right meme... or say nothing at all while posting 30 more cat pictures? Hey, I LOVE animals, have taken in rescues (my basset hound and last living ferret are rescues), but I still know how to maintain my human connections while still loving animals. But something happens to people when they try to 'connect' through social media; we all see it, feel it, experience it on a daily basis on Facebook, and to a lesser degree on Twitter.
I've deactivated my original FB account a couple of years ago over relationship drama. And I've since RE-activated that profile but haven't gone in to clean house in order to begin using it again. I really need to do that, because it's going to be a lot like moving into a better neighborhood when I do. WHY I ever allowed myself to be bullied to the extent of deactivating my FB account and creating another... isn't completely lost on me, though I wish I had stood my ground at the time. Oh well. That was then, this is now, and it's time.
In no way am I looking for 'meaningful connections' on Facebook, and here's why:
Experience has taught me that even the people you know IRL often fall prey to the disconnected mindset that comes with relying too much on social media networks to maintain a friendship or any kind of relationship. Nowhere else is it more apparent who your friends REALLY are than in the realm of social media. People don't have your back, ignore important posts and miss pretty much anything in your life that's going on that you find the courage to share. For some, the drama postings are proliferate as they either rant and rave about someone or some situation, or they take the passive/aggressive approach with cryptic messages and memes. I call BS on anyone who does this.
Either grow a pair and face me with what you have to say OR STHU already.
And people will post their cryptic messages knowing their 'supporters' will descend to comment and commiserate. Boy, have I seen this in action before, and it's the main reason I deactivated my original FB account. It was nauseating to see grown adults behaving like Jr. High school kids. I was done with the drama, sick of the BS, and was finding myself with waning trust, respect, and love for the person who was doing this. Even I can take only so much for so long.
Just hoping I will have the strength and energy today to update and 'move in' to my old profile again.

OMG WW, WTF?
So if you saw my post in my "Boo's Juicy Bits" blog, you have a pretty good idea about where on the scale of frustration my meter's stuck at today. Really. As captivating as anxiety and stress is, I think I'll pass on that juicy bit today, thanks. But dammit, the price is just too high, thanks to Weight Watchers and their constantly-changing diet plan--that used to NOT be like a 'diet' at all! OMG, WW, WTF?!
I'm stepping past that for a moment in an attempt to get my bearings on things. I'm working against prednisone weight gain here, and dammit if I don't have to PAY WW to be on a plan that makes little sense these days. Crap, there I go again. Enough of the WW talk---what do I do now?
Dang, but I'm tired of that question.
Okay, so is it not apparent that the question never changes from day to day? Of course it is. And every evening I go to bed convinced that tomorrow I'll approach things very differently, focus on something different in order to find solutions. And then every morning I wake up to the same feeling of...
FKThisStupidDayandOMGEverythingSucksAndEveryoneSTFUAlreadyOMG!
Now that I have THAT out of my system...
All I want is to feel better, like a normal, healthy human being, to be able to do what I need to do, to work, to thrive, to survive. Except, that last part is in opposition to all the other things, like working and junk. I have to take these serious medications in order to survive, and yet I feel like I'm doing anything BUT that. WTFAS??
Battling the prednisone bulge, water retention that I SWEAR could sink an intact Titanic, cravings that are absolutely out of this world, and the muscle weakness that absolutely refuses to abate; how's that for a fun time?
Over the last several days I'm dealing with the weakness that makes my arms and legs shake, that feels a whole lot like my blood sugar is crashing--though I know it's not. My labs, my BG, was great last checked, so I doubt very seriously this shaking is from that. So what then? Myositis? Okay, okay, okay... I did say I was going to focus on something else. Guess I should do that--find a youtube video or something, anything, anything at all that will inspire me. Hope. Ideas. Possibility. Even if it's simply learning more about what I am dealing with, and also what other thing (Myositis) I could be dealing with....
Seriously.

Because I Can.
It's inevitable, isn't it? Social networking is like trying to have a picnic beneath a buzzing hornets nest. We know the situation is precarious, especially when so many have now succumbed to chronic butt-hurt, and yet we persevere, post to our little heart's content, and laugh at the wrath some things inspire from unstable people. We try to understand, and some will try to edit what they post in order to 'keep down the drama.' Thing is, the drama is on their side, not ours. I mean, getting bent out of shape over what someone posts is a lot like being offended by the furniture in your neighbor's house... and saying so. It's rude, and it's inappropriate.
So why do people do it if it's just going to stir up trouble? Well, the answer to the question is in the question itself. Some people are addicted to drama, and you can spot them readily because they'll be the ones complaining constantly, and in their passive/aggressive manner, about everyone else's "drama." I know you guys have seen this.
I'm always a little amazed, watching them melt-down, lose control, judge others for speaking their minds, all the while trying desperately trying to blur the line between 'victim' and 'bully.' Know the type I'm talking about? These are the people who will call you an idiot while claiming they're above such behavior.
It's perplexing.
Here's the thing: Social networking doesn't come with a carte blanche card to attack other people's views, etc. You have a choice to keep going if you see a post you don't like, and most stable, intelligent people will do just that. And yes, there are exceptions, such as someone outright attacking, bullying, posting personal or sensitive information about you, etc. I mean, by all means.. call them out on it if they do that, and be sure to block their sorry asses when you're done. Nobody likes a bully.
Now, you also have to practice what you preach. I choose not to comment if I don't like something, and I refrain when possible the urge to behave in passive/aggressive ways.
I personally don't believe we should censor our speech just to make other people more comfortable. DO know that I'm NOT including bullying in this, because that will NEVER be okay. Not ever. But outside of bullying, we can say what we want, given it's within keeping with said SN TOS.
My personal experience in this current political climate has been that the chronically butt-hurt come out in force when I post something that isn't in keeping with their own views. One person in particular has taken to some very nasty commenting on posts he doesn't agree with, and often it's simply posts in support of who my chosen presidential candidate is. Now why would anyone have to vomit nastiness on a positive post? Who knows? Who cares? My posts on my page aren't open to bullying and nastiness. I will either delete your posts or block you. Enough is enough. For the record, I've not yet blocked this other person, but that could change quickly after today's nastiness.
When has free speech turned into 'free to bully'? I don't have the answer to this question either, but maybe it's more a rhetorical reference than anything else. Either way, some people really don't understand how stubborn I can be when it comes to another trying to control what I do, how I think, how I feel, and so on. Yeah, I can assure you.. you really don't want to poke the bear like that.
Bullying doesn't work on me, and you'll find quite the opposite response than what you hope for. But then, I think these types of drama queens actually WANT the drama, which is why they spend SO much time tossing insults. Why else would they do it if that's the only payoff?
So today this person went on a rant, tossing in character assassination remarks and such, and quite a few at that. But the main complaint is that he didn't want to see political posts and actually stated that if you're posting more than 2-3 per day that your friends are "Fucking sick of you." Well, what he thinks was a clever cut down and shaming tactic I see only as a challenge, and one I accepted right off. Today is going to be a day when the political posts will continue.. all.. day.. long.
I don't give in to bullies, who are really just cowards anyway. My page, my posts, and anyone who doesn't like it can click the 'unfollow' or 'unfriend' button! You can't bully me. You can't censor me. And you can't control me.
Challenge me, and you may be surprised at my response. And remember, you can't un-ring that bell.
I also practice what I preach: if I see a post I don't like... I move on. Having the restraint to NOT react is empowering, because when you do as that other person did today you show weakness, an inability to control your own emotions and behavior. Why would anyone willingly do that? There are venues outside of social media to air your grievances if needed. Hell, I have blogs where I can speak my mind and get things off my chest WITHOUT drawing attention to the person I may be talking about. Having been at the receiving end of abuse and character assassination I choose to refrain from going down that road if possible. But I assure you, I'm NOT afraid to stand up for myself; that's a completely different thing altogether anyway.
As they say... haters gonna hate. ;p
I don't give in to bullies, who are really just cowards anyway. My page, my posts, and anyone who doesn't like it can click the 'unfollow' or 'unfriend' button! You can't bully me. You can't censor me. And you can't control me.Challenge me, and you may be surprised at my response. And remember, you can't un-ring that bell.
I also practice what I preach: if I see a post I don't like... I move on. Having the restraint to NOT react is empowering, because when you do as that other person did today you show weakness, an inability to control your own emotions and behavior. Finding Me
I'm not lost. I'm not invisible, though I FEEL that way most of the time. I know who I am, for the most part. I can look at my life objectively and see where I've gone terribly wrong. I have a sense now of protecting my health, my sanity, my life, and I won't allow anyone to derail that. I've come a very, very long way.
I have a purpose just like any other, and a couple of relationship experiences has taught me that I can't lose sight of the fact that I don't need anyone else telling me I'm worthwhile. Selfish people will spend a LOT of time telling you you're not worthwhile, not worth their time, effort, love. And why do we allow this? The answer to that is different for every person, but the one thing that we all have in common is the TYPE person we chose to bring into our lives.
I'm right here, right now, alive and feeling; I've always been here. Though a couple of people I had in my life tried frantically to diminish who and what I am, and they nearly succeeded, they FAILED. I know this because I was able to finally walk away from the situation and felt that terrible, heavy weight lift as I did so. Even in the absence of real closure I know I saved myself by steering clear.
This situation I'm in now with my health is a big uncertainty in my life and I have to accept that. I have no idea, going forward, what to expect and have to take things one day at a time, literally. What little energy I have can't be spent on yet another person who doesn't have my best interests at heart or in mind. Now, on the surface that may sound selfish, but since my health and life are at stake.. I can't leave anything to chance, nor can I just pour my life and future into someone else the way I had in the past. There's nothing selfish about taking care of myself, and it's taken me a couple of years to actually believe this.
I don't care if anyone thinks I'm selfish right now. I do all I can for others as much as my energy and health will allow. The people who love me understand. And the people, past and present, who don't love me don't understand at all and stand in judgment. Thankfully, the numbers in that particular group are ridiculously small.
This is not the time for me to turn my focus away from the very real AI disease(s) I'm dealing with. Both the one confirmed and the one yet-to-be-confirmed are very serious and require life-long treatment. No one has given me a prognosis, because there's really no way to at this point. No one can guarantee me anything, and what they're left with is telling me the possibilities as far as what my life expectancy is WITH and WITHOUT treatment. I've started treatment, as you guys know. I've begun that journey, but it's going a lot slower than anticipated. Still, my odds with treatment are far better than without. Even knowing THAT I'm given NO guarantees of what will be a year from now, 5 years from now, or even next month.
All I can do is take very good care of myself and avoid stress and anxiety. And herein lies the biggest problem--my life with T, my past that haunts me... all bring stress and anxiety in like a flood. Not 24/7.. but enough to make each day just one more opportunity to work my way past that.
Finding myself sounds so damn cliche, and so much so that I cringe just thinking those words. But it's something I can't ignore. I'm here, but I don't recognize the person in the mirror, the sick person with the dark circles under the eyes, etc. It's okay, though. I know and understand the drill. That sick person in the mirror needs TLC, patience, understanding, and love. I'm really pretty much the only one that can provide that. It's still me in there, looking back...
It's still me in there looking back....

Family--Beating My Head Against the Wall
To say I come from a dysfunctional family is putting it mildly. Further back than my own memory reaches my siblings have hated me. No, really, I'm not making this up or being dramatic. I don't talk about this much because it brings a lot of sadness and discomfort, anger and resentment rushing to the surface. It's a long story, really, and one with gaps and holes and far-reaching voids where many memories have vanished. It would be oh so much easier had I been adopted, because I know virtually nothing about my family tree, for all the asking I've done over the years, and my parents are both deceased with my having absolutely NO idea where I came from, who my ancestors are, or what my connection is to any of them, if at all.
I was a "Mistake," according to my mother. Now, my relationship and experience with my mom is a story in and of itself, and honestly... I could write a novel here about that. But I'm not going to. Let's just say my mom was disconnected by the time I was born, old enough to be my grandmother, and about as unplugged as a parent could get. It was easier to micromanage and control everything to a damaging degree, rather than create experiences that may have given me a chance and coming out on the other side with less 'issues.' Yes, of course I have issues, and in a way it was my mom's only legacy.
How is it that I could know little of nothing, if anything, about anyone in my family tree? Well, that's easy--when you don't answer questions, share nothing, and ensure that not a single photo, letter, information, etc. gets passed down to you... well, you can't ask a dead person questions. Point blank, not pretty, but absolute truth just the same.
Everything from health/medical information was shared primarily with ONE of the 6 children, and I wasn't the one who got the information. My eldest sister was my mother's confidant, her go-to gal, and there was an almost too-close relationship between my mom and my oldest sister (old enough to be my mom). I spent my entire life on the outside, looking in, and it was that way until my mom passed away (over 20 years ago now).
One sister and I shared a dad, and my other siblings share a father form my mom's 1st and only marriage. Yep, my other sister and I were illegitimate. I could really care less about that, to tell you the truth. My dad was out of the picture when I was 18 months old, and my mother really never spoke of him or his family except for some really scary things, very dark and scary things. Now, it shouldn't surprise anyone that if you scare a kid like that, they're most likely not ever going to ask too many questions. This was the case with me.
The siblings who had a different dad hate me. Just the truth. I was even told that one reason they despised me was that, because we were very poor, they often didn't get as much milk (the example used by one brother and sister) because when it came down to the wire... "The baby" (me) needed it more than they did. I can't speak for what happened when I was a baby. I can't apologize for something that I didn't do on purpose. Yet that resentment carried right into adulthood for my 3 brothers and one sister. BTW, I don't really think of them as brothers and sisters because they've not treated me as such throughout my life. What memories I have of life with them.. isn't good.
I was born very late, with my mom being in her early 40's when she had me. All my siblings (but for one) was grown and gone and with kids of their own, so I pretty much grew up like an only child from about age 10.. when one of my sisters married and moved out (she was 16). We lived in a 3 bedroom house that was eventually condemned, and my mother (a hoarder) used all 3 bedrooms as her hoarding rooms. My sister, the one I share a dad with, had her own room, lots of 'stuff,' decorated walls, record player, records, clothes, and a bike. I didn't have enough toys to even have a toy box, so even in this respect I would find myself living an entirely different life than my sister... and everyone else, actually.
My mom was absent, indifferent, cold most of the time...and even cruel. Skipping over more details than will fit here, I will say that my childhood was very, very odd, and the damage done has proven to be long-lasting. Still, I spent my life longing for a family, a REAL family. Now, coming from a family with 3 brothers and 2 sisters you would think that a strange thing for me to say. Aunts, uncles, cousins... really had nothing to do with me, but for one cousin who, I guess, simply took pity on me. I felt the hostility from them all growing up and didn't understand any of it at all. I felt it, saw it, heard it, and experienced that hostility until we moved away from California. We moved to Colorado because my oldest brother wanted my mom to move there so she could babysit while he and my SIL could work. I was in 8th grade when we moved, and my life didn't get better at all.
Longing for a real family... even to this day....
I would eventually move away from the state of Colorado. My kids and I, to make a long story short as possible, ended up here in the south along the Gulf Coast, where we settled into that strange place (strange to us because we weren't from there) and would end up calling the south "Home." It's the only place that ever felt like home to me. I'm still in the south, but a little further north by a few short hours. But back to "Family"....
When my mom passed, naturally my eldest sister got everything. Very important items my mom was holding for me until I could send for them were divided amongst my brothers and sisters and nephews... or just tossed out as garbage. They did this QUICKLY after my mother died, the day they found out, using the excuse that they were sure that since she was on disability, got a veteran's widow pension, and on Medicare, etc... that the 'government' was going to come in and take her stuff. Yes, LUDICROUS, but that's the excuse they used. And when I arrived for her funeral I wasn't even allowed to so much as have a photo of hers. My eldest sister 'allowed' me to take ONE photo to have it photocopied. My mom had boxes and boxes of photos, btw.
Few actually had anything to say to me at the funeral, or after. It was the same shit, different day.. only worse. A few years later I'd tried once again to make some kind of connection with them, but it ended in a total disaster. I finally came to my senses and realized that I was the only one putting in any effort and that it just simply wasn't worth it. I basically told my oldest brother and his bitchy wife to piss off. And yes, it felt great and was LONG overdue.
In the present....
I know pretty much nothing of my family history, my family tree. My last living grandparent died when I was 2 weeks old, and everyone else was so much older than me that no one really had anything to do with me. My mom wasn't really forthcoming with names, histories, etc., though she did incorporate some names and such in a few fun stories she would tell from time to time. But as a little child I really had no idea if she were making the stuff up/telling fairytales, or if the information was actually true. And after my mom's death... the information about grandparents and such were simply not given to me, even if I asked. Photos, etc.... all given to my sister, who claimed some neighbor stole them, were lost. My brothers, etc. chose badly when they decided to give my sister everything. One person said they thought my sister pawned or sold the framed antique photos of grandparents etc for money. Sadly, it sounds exactly like something she would do.
The cruelty extends into adulthood....
When one of my brothers passed away a few years ago I was told about this AFTER the funeral had taken place, and... I was told on Facebook by a distant cousin. She apparently looked for me on Facebook with ONE purpose in mind, and that was to send me a message that read.. "B**** passed away last week. Thought you'd like to know." I asked "How/why?" which lead to her replaying in the same short, blunt fashion. She then disappeared and didn't say a word ever again. I'd written back a couple of times.. with no response. I'd written my nephew as well, and have been ignored. And this nephew I grew up with and was very close to most of our lives. He's only 2 1/2 years younger than I am.
Cruelty was their favorite weapon, and continues to be so.
The family tree...
As someone who feels completely disconnected from 'family' or blood ties, history... it only stands to reason that I would, eventually, WANT to know something about my own family history. SOMETHING. ANYTHING. So when I decided to look into www.ancestry.com I felt like I was taking a step in the right direction. Maybe this site could help me put the broken pieces together in such a way that I would at least see my connection within the bloodline.
What I've done...
I created an account at www.ancestry.com over a year ago, but since I wasn't really willing to invest any money into getting a full account, I've only spent the smallest bit of time there. But that changed for me about a week ago when I saw a commercial online for Ancestry and a DNA test they offered that shows where your bloodline is from, at least in percentages. A lot of folks have jumped on board for this. Now, one cool thing about the DNA test and having a real account (which I don't yet) is that you can set your family tree to allow links between matches for DNA, region, etc. It's a lot more complicated than that, and they have a video that explains it all, but it's a really neat tool and a good place to start. But what about for someone like me?....
DNA results may be the only thing I really get out of this, and that's okay. It's something, isn't it? It would be nice to know for sure what ethnicities are involved in my family tree, even if I don't have any family history to see how the pieces fit. I sent my kit off today and, from what I understand, it will take about a week for the results to get uploaded online. Knowing it's not going to give me complete picture of my family tree... I'm still okay, and I'm fairly patient where that's concerned.
So what's my freaking point here?
My point is this: If you have information about family history (names, places, etc) please share them with your kids. Don't leave them in the dark to spend the rest of their lives wondering who they really are (history wise), where they're from, what their history is, etc. It's really not a good or easy thing to live with when you have no idea about those things. Don't do that to your kids, seriously.
My desire to know more about my family history/ancestry runs deeper than the hurt from the disconnection from my actual 'family members.' I rarely use the word 'family' when speaking about them. They're blood relatives to me, but nothing more.
I have to wonder if I'm beating my head against the wall trying to piece together a family tree I know nothing about. Names, birth dates, etc. are required to even do searches or make connections. What little information I have really just stops at my mom, and my dad I have only a name and birth date. It's really like hitting a brick wall. But is it worth it, all of this effort? I don't know.
I really just don't know. The one thing I DO know is that I'm left with the question: Will I ever fully understand myself in connection to history and ancestry?
*shrugs*
I was a "Mistake," according to my mother. Now, my relationship and experience with my mom is a story in and of itself, and honestly... I could write a novel here about that. But I'm not going to.

Shhhhhh....
When I felt better I used to dream of having the proverbial spa day with all the bells and whistles. For some reason, after this AIH began kicking my ass the very idea of spending a day doing ANYTHING seemed more like an invitation to torture. If you live with any AI illness you'd know what I mean. And not everyone has their asses firmly kicked like this. But many do, and it actually is 100% guaranteed that if you're having a flare you're also living in hell. How is a spa day in hell better than no spa day at all? Hell no. Not for me.
So I'll wait this out and plan on that spa day in the future. I will appreciate it much more if I'm not sick the entire time and wanting to go home and take a nap or veg out because I don't feel good and can't think straight. Yeah, waiting is the best choice, and it will be a far better experience if I do wait.
Waiting isn't always a bad thing, you know.

Predicting Life from the Sidelines
This is a very bad day today. I managed to post about some news I learned yesterday, but I did so in my other blog. And yes, I'm still attempting to post in my blogs by relevance. Still, there will always be overlapping posts. Having said that, let me say... I feel like crap today. I really, really do. I've had some success with drinking more coffee (hey, whatever works!) until today. Today, I don't think all the caffein in the world will help. Dammit.
One more cup; this is how I get through the morning. I love coffee, don't get me wrong, but I certainly don't want it to be the reason I'm sitting upright each day. Well, I guess today will be the day when I say coffee WON'T be the reason I'm upright, because it's just not working right now. I have a feeling I'm edging towards being a limp noodle with the jitters. Dammit again.
I sit here and feel like sliding off the chair onto the floor in a giant puddle of 'screw it.' But I can't really allow that to happen, now, can I? And yet I knew, as I always do, the moment I sat up in bed that today was going to suck to the highest possible power of suckiness. I want so badly to go back to bed, to lay down, to sleep... to just not have to use my muscles to sit upright.. or walk.. or even stand.
I'm sitting on the sidelines of my own life, trying to predict from one day to the next, one hour to the next how much 'life' I will actually have at any given moment. My body isn't predictable. What I do or not do today can, and usually does, affect what happens tomorrow, or a few tomorrows. If I overdo things, I pay for it. And when I don't, I still end up paying a price for something I didn't even know I was or wasn't doing. So what's the point, right? How in the hell am I supposed to know what to do, what not to do, when doing nothing sometimes is just as bad as doing anything?
I'm really not making much sense here.
I've managed to get out of bed, so there's that.
Dammit.

The Cocoon of SAFE, Mindless Prattle
I'm irritated at the moment. I'm irritated because I'm not handling things very well right now. I get that the message I'm given is that it's very difficult to handle stress when you're on prednisone, that the body's usual defense mechanisms simply aren't in place anymore. I hear what I'm told, I get what I'm told, but I DON'T LIKE WHAT I'M TOLD. Yeah, yeah.. go cry me a river, right? ;p
Okay, so I wonder how much I'm going to be pushed by my own body in order to see just how much I can take and maintain my sanity? When will the insurance company FINALLY approve the medication I need to take care of a serious situation that is wreaking havoc on my body and my life? It's been over a month now. OVER a month, and I still can't get the medication approved. This country, because of Obama, has gone right to hell. It really has. And this is only ONE of the ways it's gone downhill.
At any rate, I seem to swing between being completely angry one moment about this, to feeling utterly abandoned in the next. I don't know HOW to feel about anything anymore, and as long as I have to deal with the symptoms I'm not going to be the most rational or patient of people; it's been going on for too long and I'm flipping tired.
Making demands on me--this is really what I'm getting at. I need to heal, and while the AIH is being addressed it's simply not enough. You can't just ignore some things, and this thing I'm dealing with is something that will not allow me the luxury of pretending it's not there, happening, and ruining my life at the moment. And no, I'm not being melodramatic here. It's the truth.
Now, I will admit one of the biggest mistakes I've been making is spending WAY too much time on social media. My bright idea was to avoid watching too much tv, and in doing that I've replaced tv with reading political articles, reading and getting caught up in tweets on Twitter, watching the disconnected posts flow through my FB feed. I can admit that's a dumb thing for me to do. And what can I do instead?...
Well, I know what I should do, so it's not a matter of ignorance but rather bad choices. I'm aware. Instead of getting caught up in all the political hot-headedness or trying to amuse myself with funny pictures and such... and we all know this is the bulk of FB posts these days... I should be turning my focus on what I normally do, and that is to seek information on how to make the best of what I'm dealing with, finding new ways to see my situation, and read more about what others do in the same. While I have sought information and such, I guess I've found it's not helped me as much as I'd hoped. Maybe that's why I'm distracting myself with all of the other crap.
I need to take about 20 paces back from FB, from Twitter, and from reading all the political crap out there. Yes, I want to be informed as these elections coming are VERY important, but there's so much hate and nastiness in what people say these days that I find it hard to read and maintain a good, happy, frame of mind. So that's one thing that I need to change.
Another thing is to avoid people on FB who seem to make it their life's mission to comment with negative crap on my posts. I mean, damn... grow up. If you don't like my point of view, disagree with me, etc... then just move along to the next post in the feed and ignore mine! It's not THAT hard to do, is it? And I know one person in particular is doing it.. because he can. He doesn't try it in person, which I find rather amusing, but he gets down right offensive and rude when he's hiding behind his computer. I normally just shrug it off and roll my eyes when he does this, but lately he's taken to insulting some of my friends in the military, including veterans, and that's where I draw the line. At any rate, this is the sort of thing that happens when you post anything of actual substance on social media. Here's a fact: People aren't really interested in what you think, feel, or believe. What people are actually interested in is cocooning themselves in SAFE, mindless prattle that means nothing.
And yes, this is relatively isolated to one particular person, so that makes things easy for me in terms of what to block him from. Honestly, I'm not sure that FB allows that anymore, blocking certain people from particular posts. Either way, enough of the BS on FB. If I find a way to block him from my posts.. it's done.. ACCESS DENIED!
Now that I got THAT off my chest...

The Dangers of Being Honest
Honesty has become a vulnerability. People who speak their minds honesty are often faced with ridicule and contempt by those who have opposing views. I believe most of us get this and have experienced that ridicule first-hand. While a valuable lesson, that ridicule and backlash, while it reminds us how we should choose our words carefully, we must always remember that honesty is STILL the best policy, and that lying by omission... is STILL lying.
A friend who reads all my blogs, and I mean every entry (bless her heart), sent me a message and said, "I don't know how you do it. Aren't you scared of haters bashing you?" Well, no.. I'm not. I refuse to allow haters and bullies to dictate how I think, behave, react or don't react to any given situation. I mean, once you give away your power it's really hard to get it back. It's best not to give your power to another to begin with.
I've relinquished my power to haters and bullies in my past. My entire life, up until about 3 years ago, I learned to suppress my feelings, to bury anger deep, to hide the foundations of any feelings I had. Not to say I wasn't emotional, because BOY was I ever. I wore my emotions on my sleeve for the entire world to see. But when it came down to recognizing for more than a second what created those emotions, and when it came down to standing up for myself, that's where everything fell apart, and it did so because I was taught early on that having those emotions.. was a bad thing.
I no longer think that, and because I no longer think that I FEEL more intensely those emotions I used to keep in check to the point of denial. It's been a liberating process, being able to access feelings like that. I don't have to apologize to anyone for having those feelings, and I reserve apologies now for when I HANDLE those feelings badly; thankfully this is seldom an issue. So when someone writes me and is worried because I allowed the emotions and thoughts etc to flow freely on the pages here, or in my other blogs, I DO take into consideration what they're saying, but I also take into consideration that I've come a very long way to not only reach my feelings and access them more fully than before, but that it's MORE than OKAY to express them.
There is a danger to being honest. There's a danger in speaking freely at times. There's a risk that you won't please one person or another person, etc. Not everyone is going to like what I'm saying. But so what? There will be those who DO, and it's with those people that the unspoken camaraderie is expressed and felt. What I say, what I express, actually has helped people, and it's certainly helped me. So I've no intention of changing this, just so everyone here is clear on where I stand.
I will accept the dangers of honesty and continue to be honest, sometimes bluntly, and I will take into consideration the edges honesty has by definition. I'm not out to hurt anyone, and this is why I name NO names here as to whom I'm speaking about.. IF I'm speaking about someone else. It occurs to me that having to say this means I'm still aware, very aware, of the risks I take. But it doesn't matter.. I'm not here to write fiction or make things look better or worse than they actually are.
I'm going to be myself, haters and bullies be-damned. No one should give up pieces of themselves for others to devour, and that's exactly what you do when you censor your words, thoughts, and feelings in a place or forum where you're there to speak your mind. People can choose to read or not read, listen or not listen. Actions are a choice.
So to my friend, though we've spoken about this at length--I hear you. And I'm okay. I'm okay with what any hater or bully thinks about me, because I don't answer to them. And.. you shouldn't either.

Premature Wad-Blowing on Simon's Part. At least he apologized!
You know, it's a little representative what Simon did. Liberals have taken up the Simon mentality and have become the world's critics. Claiming 'tolerance' they ejaculate their hate upon anyone, anywhere, and for the dumbest reasons. Screw 'em. Haters suck. Maybe they need a little blue pill for their personality problems, because from where I'm sitting.. they all look flaccid, impotent, and bitter.

WTF
If you've wandered here FIRST...
You may not know that I have other blogs. Look on the menu bar on the right and you'll find the links. Blogs are created and organized (for lack of a better word) for content. I tried, really tried to put everything in ONE place. OMG, what a freaking mess that was. So organization was the only way to maintain something that remotely appeared as, well, 'sanity.' Sanity is overrated, btw.
Anyway, there's going to be a few random entries here and there today as I get my bearings and prepare to spew away. *snort* I know where I'm going with this, and I'm prepared... are you? ;p
In the meantime, if you're curious, you can read the other blogs.
Yeah... this is going to take a minute....

Growing Pains or Just Losing My Mind?
24 hours after creating yet another blog.. OMG, that's like 5 now!.. I'm sitting here questioning my sanity. Which I shouldn't, because I pride myself on being a little cray. ;p In some respects having multiple blogs with multiple purposes is like having a big house with each room having it's own theme. Or.. so this is how I justify it to myself anyway. Ha!
I can't promise it's going to be VASTLY different from any of the others, but I do want to take a lot of liberties here just the same. All political-correctness can be checked at the door, thank you very much.
I'm also having some difficulty with the design here (who freaking cares?!?), so it's bound to change. A lot. A LOT...
Okay... off to pretty this little panic room up!
;p

The Crap I Spew
Okay, so here it is, the one and only place where I really will say just about anything that comes to mind. It won't matter if I'm completely full of shit, it's going to be about as raw as it gets. I honestly do need an outlet for the crazy, goofy, oddball, eccentric side of me. You know, that part very few people get or WANT to get.
Here, in THIS place, is the one place where PC may just get kicked on it's pearly little butt.
Hold onto your false teeth, Ethyl... this could be one helluva ride. ;p
